September 4, 2009 Submitted bykaelen from brooklyn, ny
"so fragrant, i planted these in my raised bed garden and they thrived. even with a terrible month of June (rained EVERY day here in NY, NY), my 5 plants grew to 2+ feet and were so delicious. the pesto i made was amazing, and it was very easy to tend to. a good herb for beginners !"

Favorite Herb,
January 24, 2009 Submitted byTASC from Lowell, MA
"This is by far my favorite herb to grow in the garden. The smell is intoxicating if you brush up against these guys and the flavor is fantastic.
Throw 'em in a pot or in the ground once the ground starts to warm up and they take off, producing all summer long and well into the beginning of the cold season."

Excellent Basil,
January 2, 2009 Submitted byGrandPop from Labadie, MO
"I planted this basil again last year after expanding and moving my herb garden to a new site and had excellent results. Based on previous experience, I expect the basil to come back from seed year after year. I started it in trays indoors to guarantee a good start, but later I just sowed directly in the ground, both methods produced well.
My daughter and son-in-law just moved from Providence Rhode Island and we live near St Louis Missouri, both locations are known for their Italian cooking, so we all know what to expect from basil, and this basil delivers exactly what we are looking for. It made excellent pesto, was perfect in sauces, and was wonderful drizzled over tomatos with EVOO and served with cheese and crackers. Never bitter, just sweet enough and very aromantic. No problems with the plants (except the bees, if you don't pinch the blooms often enough, but that is one reason why I moved the herb garden closser to my vegetable garden- to get the benefit of all those bees).
I highly recommenr this basil!"

enjoyed this Basil!,
December 11, 2008 Submitted byPlantasaurus from Jenks Oklahoma
"I had Basil all summer long. All I had to do is step out my back door and clip what I needed off. I planted mine in a flower box that is on a stand. I put one shole packet of seeds in the container and I think I ended up with about 10 sturdy plants after I thinned them out. Next year I am moving the extras to a side garden to make gourmet oils with for gifts. I saved so much money growing my own Basil all summer. We pay about 2.99 for a little plastic container . I know I saved at least 50$, maybe even more. Keep those flowers trimmed off and your plants will grow right up until they freeze."

Beautiful Plant and Fresh Flavor,
July 17, 2008 Submitted byChristyACB from Norfolk, Virginia
"This household loves pesto pasta and uses enormous quanities of it. Growing Basil is a natural for us but until this year, it has always been from purchased starts rather than seed.
I started a large number of these in trays and had a fair germination rate with some attrition in the early seedling stage. Once the remaining plants got going, however, I was not disappointed in their growth or production.
I did start them early to get that early harvest and pruned judiciously to get the plants to bush out well. By the end of June here, I'm having a hard time keeping them from producing flowers, regardless of pruning or use. Almost all the plants have become large and somewhat woody, resembling topiary more than anything else.
Because of this fortuitous shaping, I'm going to try to continue that trend and I'll update my review with the progress.
Starting some late starts for longer harvest in early June, I've had good germination and the seedlings are quite strong. No doubt I'll continue to enjoy pesto for months to come."
