Beebalm is one of the easiest perennials to grow. They adapt to any soil and increase quickly. Hummingbirds love them. Use as a background for annuals. Intensely glowing red. Extremely large flowers. Height 3-4'. Spacing 2'. Grows best in part to full sun. Blooms June-July. Perennial in Zones 4-9.

Love it..but.., May 19, 2009

"Great hummingbird plant! However, this plant can be invasive, so what I did after finding that out was to pot it and plant the pot in the garden..keeps it under control (for the most part).

Plant can also be *very* messy when dropping flowers..and can stain wood so be careful with placement!

Also, this plant is very easy to divide up after it gets large and hand off to neighbors, family and friends.

Very hardy plant..in fact..it survived in a plastic grocery bag over winter outside in CT (I failed to re-pot it)..it's now May and it's well on its way to bloom!"

"Reliable Perennial in southern Ohio. Unique blooms and wonderful smell. Large plant, best for larger, "loosely designed" bed."
