"75 days. Deep red-orange flesh is rich and delicious. Space-saving, bush-type plants grow only 4' long. Each bears 4-5 butternut-shaped fruits averaging 1-1/2 lbs. A sweet staple and a great source of vitamin A. Winter squash keeps for months and makes superb pie. Plant when soil is warm. For bush types, sow 3-4 seeds in groups (hills) spaced 6-8' apart. 25 seeds per packet, will plant 6 groups. Sun."

"This was my first time growing squash and I was very pleased with this variety. I grew 6 of these plants. I planted them in Miracle grow soil using 6, 5 gallon buckets in my front yard which has full sun. Plants produced 32 squash that where between 1-2 lbs each. I only sprayed twice this season for some bugs. Plants were very ornamental and the neighbors loved watching the progress. Squash were kept clean because the plant grew in a mounding format about a foot and a half tall and two feet wide allowing the squash to dangle from the top of the bucket. Not bad return on less than $3.00 of seed and six buckets of soil."

"This was my first year growing this squash and it really impressed me. Tons of fruit (I only planted four plants and got at least 25 squash). The squash was also very large for a compact plant - mine averaged 10 to 12 inches. No problems with disease and very little maintenance in my garden."

"this is a great plant for any compact garden. I had a vegtable bed in my garden that was empty. there are 6 plants spread apart about 1 foot between each plant. If you want great squash, then go with burpee butterbush"

Excellent small-garden choice,

"This little butternut is perfect for small families and small gardens. The fruit is very tasty and one squash is just the right serving size for two people. For me, each plant yields two to four fruits with deep orange flesh and small seed cavity. I can get five plants in a 10' row, so that's plenty for winter storage for us. We live in a cool coastal community 3 miles from the beach with a fair amount of summer fog and this Butternut has better resistance to mildew than the larger Waltham varieties. Highly recommended!"

"The burpee's butterbush is a spacesaver, true, but it is not at all convienient. The fruits were tiny, and despite my heavy daily watering, weekly feedings, and nutrient rich, composted soil, the fruits failed to top 4 INCHES in length. Unless you want these squash as small display gourds, use other varieties of burpee butternut squash, mostly heirloom varieties."
