Summer Squash Collection - 4 Pkts. (1 ea.)

"Butterstick: this zucchini has an exceptional nutty flavor and will produce a bountiful harvest. The fruits are small with white flesh and a firm texture. Pic-N-Pic: Crookneck. We bred this squash to yield a bounty of smooth, tender, golden yellow fruits. Pick them when they're 4-6"" long. Sweet Zuke: All zucchini were not created equal! In fact, we think this Burpee zucchini is one of the best. Sweet Zukes's flavor is tasty cooked or fresh. Sweet Gourmet: A Lebanese variety perfected to thrive here. Harvested 6"" long, it has a mildly sweet flavor. Longer fruits, cut lengty-wise and stuffed, are very tasty. Compact, disease tolerant plants often yield 50-70% more fruits than zucchini. Squash will regrow a new fruit for each one picked, for several yields a season. Needs only basic soil, water and sunshine to thrive. Sumer squash are most flavorful when small, just after the blooms drop. All our summer squash are bush types, easily grown in either hills or rows. You can plant these in "

"Planted all 4 at the same time in the garden. Sweet Gourmet never came up. Replanted and never came up either. I am trying to start in a 6 pack container now."

Squash Galore, August 13, 2008
Submitted by Corni from Cincinnati, OH
"I was looking to introduce some new veggies into my family's diet, but I wasn't familiar with the best squash taste. So I bought the squash collection to test out a variety. What a winning collection...and so easy. The seeds germinated quickly and I was harvesting in 50 days. These plants are enormous though. Leave lots of room. 3 of the 4 varieties have really heavy yield (the dark green zuke is the least). And the squash seem to double in size overnight so check them often. The Butterstick is our favorite with a smooth yet nutty flavor...great sauteed or steamed with green beans."
