"Picklebush. 52 days. Unbelievably compact vines get only 2' long. White-spined fruits have classic pickle look, deep green with paler stripes. Up to 4-1/2"" long, 1-1/2"" across at maturity, but use them at any size. Very productive. Tolerant to powdery mildew and cucumber mosaic. Burpee Bred. Sun."

Very disappointed,
October 1, 2009 Submitted byAramis83 from Louisville, KY
"I had such high hopes for these as I have a very small space for gardening and only like cucumbers for pickling. Not to mention it had great reviews. I can honestly say this was the most disappointing cucumber variety I have ever planted. Out of 5 plants I got maybe 6 cucumbers the size of gherkins. Completely useless. I also had to fight the pests, as they seemed to love these more than my other varieties. I might try one or two in containers next year, but they're not getting valuable real estate in my actual garden. No disease though, that was the only reason I would give them 2 leaves instead of 1."

Good for eating and pickles,
May 11, 2009 Submitted bybstnh1 from Southern New Hampshire
"I planted these for the first time in 2008. They performed well even though the weather here was cool and very wet and a disaster for most garden crops. They are a heavy yielder. I noticed some posters mentioned that the cukes were bitter. I believe that has to do with the growing method and conditions rather than the variety. I found them very good tasting when eating fresh and excellent for bread and butter pickles."

Good enough for a few rounds of pickles,
February 19, 2009 Submitted byFinny from San Jose, CA
"I did multiple sowings of this variety over the course of the season when the first sowing was chewed by invisible bugs.
The second sowing produced one viable plant that actually went on to produce enough cukes for many rounds of pickles.
And the pickles were/are really good!
I'd recommend this seed but warn that keeping an eye out for bugs is a must as this didn't seem to be a very bug-tolerant variety.
Also, as plain salad cucumbers, these were a bit bitter - better as pickles."

Hope There Was a Blight,
January 20, 2009 Submitted byGardenGirl88 from Twin Valley, MN
"I tried these for the first time last year and they didn't do much of anything. Out of 2 hills, I got 3 cukes. Talking with other gardeners in my area, I discovered they didn't have a good crop either.
I am willing to give these another try, though. I'm not one to give up easily, especially when I read the other reviews which gave such praise to these. I hope '09 is a better year for cukes up here."

Performed better than any other cuke!,
January 22, 2008 Submitted byGardeningLawyer from Washington, GA
"I planted three different types of cucumbers last year, and picklebush is the only one that performed. It grew quickly, it took up a miniscule amount of space (a true small "bush") and the numbers of female flowers was tremendous. In fact, it is almost odd to look at the vines and see all these cucumbers growing so closely together. The fruit grows very quickly and tastes great fresh. I did not pickle any last year, but I did enjoy the taste on salads! Recommended!"

"This cuccumber is the best one for making pickles. I grow this variety every year in my raised beds. They produce huge crops when combined with organic fertilizer. My garden bed is three feet by sixteen feet. Each day I would pick between 25 to 30 cukes. The taste is excellent. I use them for bread and butter pickles. Each crop yeilds 30 to 40 quarts of bread and butter pickles."

"This cucumber is one of the best I have ever grown. I have a massive garden, and a large family. Plus I sell produce on a fun, roadside stand. And every morning, I can count on a huge, fresh, delicous yeild. It did have some trouble with mildew, and miss-shapen fruits, but really not all that much. I can always count on this cucumber, and I would reccomend this cucumber for a garden enthusiast of any age! it is easy to grow, creates a great yeild, and is not space consuming at all."

"Unable to garden, I have used this product in medium size pots, with simple strings.
It performs beyond my hopes.
I have also used this product in my home hydroponic system, it's still "The Perfect Pickle!"
It's also great for kid's projects. You can put the kids names on the pots. It's a loving combination!
I can't say enough about this great Pickle Bush...Buy it, you'll love it!"
