"These delectable tomatoes also ripen early for so large a fruit. The determinate plants set very heavy crops, even in hot weather. Strong disease resistance. Ready to harvest in 68 days. Burpee exclusive. Sorry, state laws prohibit shipping plants to Alaska, Hawaii, Arizona, California, Nevada. Determinate.

"This tomato quickly became a 'must have' for my garden. I would personally classify this as a medium size tomato.. perfect for an afternoon snack or a single tomato sandwich. I think it has the perfect amount of flesh to seeds, juicy, good 'shelf life', bugs didn't seem to bother them as much as the reds, and great flavor. If i had to recommend only 2 tomato plants, this would be 1 of the 2. Plus the color gives great contrast to your garden. Now a favorite of my mom, sisters, brother and friends. "

Wonderfully Tasty,
August 21, 2009 Submitted byChar from Central, New Jersey
"I like fresh tomatoes. Unfortunately I have problems with acid reflux and was trying to find a tomato that I could enjoy that provided less acidity than the usual tomatoes you see. Last year I came across these delicious vibrant beauties on Burpee. They work good raw or cooked. I've made tomato sandwiches and put them in omelettes. This tomato is a regular from now on in my garden.
This year because of rainy cool weather it has taken a while for the tomatoes to ripen and I do think that they lack a bit of flavor this year as compared to last year. But, again, I believe that the weather is to blame for this. At least I am getting tomatoes thought and do not seem to be having the statewide problem of "late blight".
I have plenty of tomatoes on the plants waiting for me to pick them either when they are ready or when I am ready. (I picked some when they were still green but getting to the large size where they were in danger of splitting and I left them on the counter to ripen which worked fine.)
Overall, would recommend. Good taste, great color, and a benefit to those who may not be able to handle the more acidic varieties."

A great tomato for hot climates.,
July 16, 2009 Submitted byAnonymous from Mohave Desert, CA
"I have grown these tomatoes in FL and in the Mohave Desert in CA. They grow exceptionally well in the high heat (>100F) of both locations. The tomatoes are a nice size and don’t seem to be bothered by many pests. They make a great tomato sandwich; they don’t have the acidic taste that some tomatoes have, very sweet, and high flesh to seed ratio. I definitely recommend these for gardens in very hot climates."

Best Orange Tomato Ever,
March 10, 2009 Submitted bymoondogi from San Diego
"We grew the Sweet Tangerine in 2008 for the first time, and even though we like to try new varieties every year, my wife insisted that we re-grow this tomato this year. Good crops of delicious fruit. Not as prolific for us as some others, and the size for us was suprisingly small-medium but the taste made up for it."

"These are excellent tomatoes!! The description said they are determinate, but my plants are still growing, blooming, and producing awesome tomatoes. They did produce a larger crop in the early summer, so I would probable label them semi- determinate."

Sweet and versatile,
September 13, 2008 Submitted byNicola from SE Michigan
"Wow! This tomato is SO sweet it's almost unbelievable. This was my first time trying this particular variety and I was absolutely astonished when I tried my first one. The texture is great and not at all mealy, and the plant has been going strong all season.
People who are fond of "true tomato taste" (ie. the more traditional beefsteak varieties) were not impressed when I shared some of these with them. They complained that the fruit was too sweet and didn't really taste like a tomato. That said, people who are not overly fond of the "true tomato taste" loved it because it was really something different and didn't have the acidic bite of most tomatoes. It was definitely appreciated by friends who are sensitive to high acid content.
I will definitely be growing this variety again next year, no question about it. I only put a few plants in the ground to give it a try, but next summer it will get a dedicated row."

July 23, 2008 Submitted byFaith from Central PA
"We bought 3 plants last year for the first. We had tomatoes from July to October. The plants gave so many tomatoes that we supplied our family, friends and neighbors with tomatoes. They are the sweetest tomatoes we ever ate. We planted 4 plants this year and they are already full of tomatoes and we actually at our first of the season yesterday. Highly recommended."

Yearly Staple,
February 13, 2008 Submitted byMtnbiker from Charlotte
"This is an excellent tomato. I plant it every year. It gives off a great yield with beautiful uniform deep orange color. Never had a problem with disease or blossom end rot. I plant a variety of tomatoes every year but look forward to these the most. Can eat them plain with a bit of salt for a great healthy snack. Come out a beautiful orange color when dried in the dehydrator. Almost tastes like a dried apricot when dried."

High hopes,
October 27, 2007 Submitted byTut3d from Ellicott City, MD
"I have been growing tomatoes for 10+ years, and I was looking forward to this one. Ordered 2 sets of 3 each (I usually start from seed) and made sure everything was perfect to grow them. The plants arrived a month late, and 4 of them were dead. Of the two that made it, only one produced, and the tomatoes were small but tasty. Did not get my first one of these until mid-August, and it was done by mid-September. My Cherokee's, Whoppers and Beefs are finally winding down, and it is almost Halloween! I do not give up after one season on any plant, so Next year I will start from seed and Hope to fare better."

"Though only 2 of our 3 plants truly produced, the ones that did, did so in abundance!
The taste is great, the fruits medium-sized, and they looked so lovely in salads as well as canning jars (homemade salsa and herbed tomatoes.)
We will definitely be planting these and Black Pearl cherry tomatoes again."

Flavorful and Disease Resistant,
August 13, 2007 Submitted byDebra
""Burpee's Tomato Sweet Tangerine Hybrid gorgeously golden and astonishingly sweet". lives up to it's name. I started the seeds in late winter and planted them in early April in a water wall to provide protection from late spring cold temperatures. The plants set tomatoes in late April and we had the first ripe tomatoes before the 4th of July. These are mid-sized, prolific, disease resistant plants that produce sweet, flavorful tomatoes. I will fill the garden with them next year. They are the best orange tomatoes ever and better then the five varieties of red tomatoes I planted."

"I have been growing tomatoes seriously for 15 years. This is the first year I've tried the tangerine. It may be the best tasting tomato I've ever had. Very sweet and mild. The plants are healthy, dark green and very productive. Next year I'm putting 6' cages around them. They are supposed to be determinate but I think I can get them producing to 6'."
