Excellent taste, color, and texture, September 12, 2009
Submitted by GardenGuyCO from Western Colorado
"I planted Big Beef for the first time this year. I am very pleased with the fruit quality. The fruit turns a dark red inside and out when fully ripe. Good flavor and texture. Big Beef will now be a main tomato variety in my garden in the future. I grew it in large cages without staking, and found this to be acceptable."

Very Nice, August 1, 2009
Submitted by NashvilleGardner from Nashville, TN
"I am growing these for the first time this year, and I am pleased. The vines produce well, and the fruit has been 10-12oz as advertised. The flavor is very nice too. I'll be doing these again next year."

Almost ripe!, June 19, 2009
Submitted by buffy045 from Virginia Beach, VA
"Three plants arrived in late March along with the 4th of July plants. I put them in the ground on April first inside of the wall-o-waters (highly recommend them!). Today is June 19th and several of the tomatoes are almost ready to be picked! Can't testify to the flavor yet but if they taste half as good as the look, these tomatoes are a winner. No cracking that I can see in spite of a wet spring with very uneven temperatures."

Perfection, December 5, 2008
Submitted by ToughGeek from Long Island
"I recall a time, when I was young and started gardening, that Better Boy was the best thing going when it came to growing a dependable big slicer. Well it will be a long time before anything comes close to Big Beef. Rivals the heirlooms in flavour, most of the fruit are perfect globes, very heavy production, early as compared to most other big slicers, and probably the most desease resistant hybird created. The only thing I noticed is that the seedlings required a bit more pampering to get them going quickly, but well well worth it."

One of the Best, October 3, 2008
Submitted by NJTomatoman from Northern NJ
"Every year I try one new variety of live plants from Burpee. This year it was Big Beef. I agree with what other reviewers have said. Good producer with outstanding fruit flavor and appearance. Big Beef joins Super Tasty as my favorite Burpee variety of medium sized tomatoes."

Best in Class-Hybrid tomato-maybe all tomatoes, August 24, 2008
Submitted by LakeErieGarden from Lorain, OH
"This is the best tomato to grow for production, disease resistance, ease of growing, taste, size and appearance that there is. Wow is this an amazing tomato! Far better flavor than the Better Boy, Celebrity and Parks Whopper hybrids> I think this tastes every bit as good, even better than Rutgers which I think is a heck of a compliment to a hybrid. If I absolutely had to choose one variety of tomato that I could only plant for the rest of my life, this may well be it. I can't get over the quality of flavor in a tomato that is this perfect in every single category. This is the best all around tomato out there, hands down. I can not do it enough justice to speak of all this tomato is."

Hard to Beat, December 19, 2007
Submitted by Rhazz from Salt Lake City
"The Big Beef is hard to beat for taste and plant performance. I always have one of these in my tomato patch. Very consistant producer in the mountain west. I don't give many of these away because we keep them for ourselves."
