Hot Pepper False Alarm Hybrid - 1 Pkt. (30 seeds)

"Jalapeno Pepper. 62 days. Does the thought of a hot pepper leave you cold? This new beauty with only the slightest hint of the heat brings savory jalapeno flavor to non-heat lovers everywhere. Even better, False Alarm makes compact plants that are barely 18"" tall, yet smother themselves with thick-fleshed, 3"" peppers. A good thing, too, cause you can eat a lot of these mild, tasty jalapenos. Excellent for roasting, nachos, poppers, and salsa. It's the perfect little hardly-hot pepper for small gardens and containers. Burpee Exclusive. Grow in full sun.
Sorry, state laws prohibit shipping plants to Alaska, Hawaii, Arizona, California, Nevada.

Great producer, August 7, 2009
Submitted by veggienovice from Long Island NY
"I'm new to gardening and have had trouble growing peppers. False Alarm Hybrid changed that. I think every seed germinated! The plants, both on the porch and in the garden, are healthy and producing well. I wish I had this success with everything I tried to grow."

Many Uses For the False Alarm, June 10, 2009
Submitted by socalsweetpea73 from Anaheim, CA
"I have grown the False Alarm Hybrid for several years and it is one of my garden basics. Every year I come up with more uses for them. Peppers are hard to get started in my garden but they thrive once established. This is a very nice healthy plant with a heavy yield of beautiful peppers. Use them to make bacon-wrapped stuffed jalapenos and in your salsa. I dice them up and add them to tuna salad, chicken salad, etc. You can use them in anything you would use a jalapeno OR a bell pepper. They are milder than a traditional jalapeno and zippier than a bell pepper - great pepper!!"

Perfect for the faint of heart, August 17, 2008
Submitted by CJJo from Naperville, IL
"My husband does not like hot peppers, I love them. With this pepper, we made salsa and Nachos that we could both eat. I can eat them right off the plant, but to feed my husband, I seeded them and just used the meat. We just grew 2 plants this year, will grow more next year. Perfect..."

Occasional surprise, July 19, 2008
Submitted by Mater from Goleta, CA
"Certainly there's no need for a "5-alarm" warning for this excellent-tasting pepper, but, be warned that an occasional pungent surprise might be waiting for you to bite down on. Be careful when inviting small children to "...take a big bit - it's not hot". They might find an eye-watering experience that will ruin your credibility for at least several days (children do get over things like this). It doesn't happen often, but it can happen. For complete assurance that there will be no heat, remove all of the seeds and enjoy the tasty green or red 'wrapper'."

Not so hot!!!, May 31, 2007
Submitted by pookie
"I tried growing these False Alarm peppers last year and what a great surprise! I started them indoors in my old fashion peat pots and put them in the ground by the end of May. My reward was tons of nice, not so hot peppers. They were great to add to soups and all kinds of salads. If you like jalapenos, but can't stand the heat, these are the peppers for you.

I was able to make some of the best salsa and chilie, that even the kids could eat. For those of you that want something really hot, then go for the traditional peppers, but for the weak of heart (burn) go for these!"

False Alarm Hybrid is my favorite garden vegtable!, February 12, 2006

"As a novice vegtable gardener (only a couple of seasons under my belt), the False Alarm Hybrid pepper is the best tasting vegtable I've produced. It is very easy to grow and the peppers are soooo sweet when you pick them green, you can eat them right off the plant. They develop a little heat if you let them mature fully red if thats what you like. The plants were loaded with small peppers. I ordered the plants and planted them in my garden last time, but I'm going to try starting seeds and growing them in containers (due to space constraints) this year. I can't say enough about this tasty pepper!"
