"Verbascum x hybrida 'Southern Charm' This Burpee introduction has become one of the most popular perennials in recent years. Full, well branched plants grow 2½ -3' tall when situated in full sun where the soil is well drained. Flower spikes are covered with beautiful florets in shades of buff, lavender and soft rose. Primary bloom begins in June and is followed by a lighter bloom period that continues into September. Wonderful in fresh arrangements. Remove spent flower spikes to encourage more bloom. Hardy in zones 5-8.
Sorry, state laws prohibit shipping plants to AK or HI. Plants ship in the fall at proper planting time. ( click here for shipping schedule )"

"I ordered this plant several years ago. It has been spindly and short lived in the clay soil, though I have improved the soil repeatedly. However, I have gotten many compliments from people walking through the neighborhood. I have moved to a different area, still in northern Il, but this used to be farmland and has beautiful black soil. I am reordering this plant and hoping for better results in improved soil. It is a very pretty plant, with a nice, old fashioned look."

"I have had these Verbascums in my garden for several years. They have been consistent performers and are a beautiful peach shade with pink accents. They don't like very hot sun and tend to wilt a little in the late afternoon. They also need a little staking to look their best but I think they are worth it."

"Zone 6. May need stake/cage during rain/wind. Color is unique pastel combo. Has three flushes during the growing season. Color has an eclectic appearance in the garden."

"I've grown these from seed started indoors, plants, and root tip cuttings I took myself. It is remarkably easy to propagate and vigorous in well drained soil. What impressed me so much was the recurring bloom- three and sometimes four times here in zone four (if cut back). A must have for cut flowers, but the plant isn't so much to look at. Likes support."

"I am in Zone 9, where our soil tends to clay. I prepped the soil and planted small plants, which never took off and eventually died. I had tried previously with seeds, and had no luck with that either. If you are in the central valley of California, where summers are blistering hot, this is one plant that just might not work no matter hard you try. If anyone else has had success, I would be interested to know what you did."
