Peat Pots - 1 Pack (22 peat pots) - 3 in. round

"The most biodegradable way to start seeds indoors. When it's time to transplant, set pot and all into the soil. Made of peat and wood fiber with soluble fertilizer added. The perfect choice for all your seedlings."

Moldy pots!, March 30, 2009
Submitted by ASBP from Harrisburg, PA
"The pots are a good size (I got the large square ones) and pretty cheap. I filled them with potting soil that was moist out of the bag and then I planted the seeds. The next day, they were placed in a window with afternoon sun and watered (a Thurs). On Monday, the pots were moldy (white, fur-like)! The mold was on the side of the pots and on the tops. So far, it hasn't grown on the soil.

To be fair, I did cover them loosely with plastic wrap, but it was well ventilated and I promptly removed the wrap when I noticed the mold. We did not have sunny conditions, so the pots did not have a chance to dry out (although, they were only watered once). I'm hoping when the pots dry out that the mold will die."

Only good for fast growing plants, March 17, 2009
Submitted by 3985 from Houston
"I'm growing some plants indoors that are slow growing. However, I have 3 concerns about these pots. First of all, I noticed that mold or some type of white bacteria has been growing on the pots. Second, when I try to move the pots around, the side of the pot is very slimy. Third, I have noticed some white larvae of some kind is all over my pots and I'm not sure where they came from. But I do notice some good things about these pots. They hold up well after a couple of weeks. They are cheap. I would only recommend using these pots for fast growing plants like beans, but you can directly sow them into the garden anyways."

squirrel's favorite, June 12, 2008
Submitted by lizcat from virginia
"I loved the convenience of the peat pots, BUT---the squirrels loved them too. I'm container gardening, and my deck looked like a war zoon. The squirrels dig up the pots, throw dirt everywhere and destroy plants. They go after flowers and vegetables, and now dig up everything in hopes of finding a peat pot.
Why are these a squirrel magnet? What can I doi to get rid of the squirrels?
Does amypne have help?
thanks"
