Morning Glory Heavenly Blue - 1 Pkt. (50 seeds)

"Magnificent 5"" cheerful blooms are bright sky-blue with creamy white throats. Fast-growing, large vines with attractive foliage. Height 8'. Easy to grow. Grows best in full sun.

GARDEN HINTS: For best germination, soak seeds overnight before planting. For earlier bloom, start indoors 6 weeks before outdoor planting time.

Brilliant Blue, June 19, 2009
Submitted by Birdie from Central Texas
"I had 100% germination rate! I didn't do anything special to the seeds before plopping them in garden soil. The vines started slowly and then took off fast! They are trained on a pergola which serves as the garden entrance, which is really delightful. They are a much deeper cobalt blue than in the photo. Lovely!"

Success with Morning Glories, September 11, 2007
Submitted by Elizabeth from North Shore, MA
"Two windows of a first floor bedroom are now wreathed in heart shaped leaves and glorious blue flowers - what a gift every morning!

After a disappointing first attempt, I finally found out the best way to grow morning glories:

1.) Nick the seeds carefully with a small serrated knife and then set them to soak overnight in warm water.

2.) Don't start the seeds too early (that was one of my mistakes) - morning glory seedlings hate the cold. I had best luck starting them outdoors in mid-May here in zone 6.

3.) Sow the seeds directly in ordinary garden soil for best results. The roots do not like to be disturbed/transplanted. The roots also need a good depth (another mistake - my first attempt was in a too-shallow container). Although I had moderate success with peat pots, the seeds I planted directly in the flower bed grew much better.

4.) I planted the seeds in mid-May, set up stakes and garden twine in June for the vines to climb, and I began to see flowers toward the end of July. All of August now through mid-September, I have had countless #s of flowers each morning!

I heard that morning glories are technically a weed - so my first failure was pretty embarrassing! But remember not to start them too early if you are in zone 6 and give the roots plenty of room. It cheers me up every morning!"

What a joy!, May 27, 2007
Submitted by Andre from New York
"I am a beginner gardener, and I decided to start some container gardening. I grew some of these morning glories, and I loved them! Since the containers are on my deck and my bedroom window is directly overhead, my flowers climbed all the way up a string trellis to my window! I kept waiting throughout the season for a bud, and it finally came! I spotted it one night, went to sleep, woke up the next morning and saw my first vibrant blue flower. It was gorgeous! I love how the blooms die off each day and new ones join their place. Highly recommended!"

"Plants grow beautifully indoor or outdoor. Its best to plant them outdoors after they have filled up the whole pot. Looks lovely in gardens!"
