Best of both worlds!, February 28, 2009
Submitted by minuetcat
"Tomande produces like a hybrid, but looks and tastes like an heirloom. Our three plants were the most reliable tomatoes in the garden...very high-yielding...and they always tasted great! They had a wonderful flavor, were juicy, and not mealy in the least. We used them on sandwiches, on pasta, in stir-fry, as snacks...couldn't get enough of them! Plus, they stayed fresh for up to 2 weeks in the fridge and are quite attractive and unusual-looking.

I highly recommend them and will be buying them again this year."

The Best Ever, August 1, 2008
Submitted by TheMiss from Albuquerque
"I just love these tomatoes. They just produced and kept right on growing. My only regret in 2007 is that
they weren't in tune for the State Fair. This year I ordered some plants. They were in great shape and thrived.
I live in a high desert area and the temperatures can be extreme. Last summer was about 95-105 degrees-didn't bother them. This summer is cool-spring was cool and very windy-so it was a slow start, but they're covered with tomatoes now."

Best tomato ever, March 7, 2008
Submitted by Montana from Montana
"I tried Tomande last year (2007) for the first time and was amazed with both vigor and production. I grew 12 varieties (mostly heirloom) in two gardens and the Tomande produced 2-3 times as many tomatoes as any of the others. One garden got severely hailed on and the Tomande was the most vigorous in coming back from the hail. I canned 150 quarts of tomatoes and 60 quarts of salsa and I could fill a 5 gallon bucket at each tomande plant and it didn't look like I'd picked any. Super plant, please keep it available. Jerry from Montana"

tasty but not heat tolerant, November 26, 2007
Submitted by vvgirl from east Tennessee
"These tomatoes had very good flavor - but we had an unusual heat wave this summer (for us, at least), and they pretty much stopped producing in the heat, so probably a better choice for areas a tad north of zone 7."

cool looking, good taste, October 19, 2007
Submitted by CoffeeHeidi from Central, NJ
"I tried these out this year at the request of my 9 yr. old son because they were "cool looking." Indeed they were and tasted great too. While we didn't get a lot these tomatoes, what we did get has made me willing to plant them again next year."

Great tomato, July 15, 2007
Submitted by ChicagoNative from Louisville
"I purchased these as Sure Starts in Spring 07 and they have performed magnificently.

I have huge overflowing vines with amazing amounts of fruits, which are just starting to ripen (mid-july). I suspect that I will have bushels to give away ( I am the only person in the house who eats tomatos) and I haven not had one pest issue this year with this or other Burpee varieties.

Burpee tomatos always give me fresh fruits till mid-October or later if it's a warm fall.

I do not spray herbicides/insecticides and only use miraclegrow food maybe 3 times all season, but I compost extensively in the pre-planting season.

This is going to be a great tomato.

"This is a delicious tomato. And it looks great with the heavy lobes and dark solid red color. My only complaint is that the stems are so thick and woody that I had to use pruners to cut the tomatoes from the vines rather than being able to pick them by hand."
